Mt Kaputar National Park is 50 kilometers drive from Narrabri NSW, the road is tar for about 35 km then turns to dirt and becomes very narrow as it winds its way up the mountain, the road is unsuitable for caravans or RVs. Small camper vans and camper trailers will make it fine if you take your time.
The park has two camp grounds, the first being Bark Hut (more info here). Most flat camp-sites are for tents and parking for camper vans or trailers is on a bit of an angle. There is flushing toilets and showers (cold for us) gas BBQs, picnic tables, wood BBQs and rubbish bins. Dawsons Springs (more info here) is 6 km towards the summit. There is flushing toilets, timed hot showers, picnic tables, wood BBQs, a few fire pits and rubbish bins. Both campgrounds cost $6 an adult and $3.50 a child payable in the honesty box.
The area is stunningly beautiful with all look-outs having magical views, the summit walk is a few kilometers from Dawson Springs camp ground or a drive if you have a 4WD, we recommend this walk to enjoy 360 degree stunning views
