Danjera Dam is located in Yalwal State Forest which is 30km west of Nowra. The road in is dirt and narrow at times, 2wd in the dry and 4wd in the very wet. The road is unsuitable for caravans and RV’s. The dam was built over an old gold mining town called Yalwal. Today it is a free camping area with a few different camping sites on the way to the main camp area. The main camping area is very popular located on the dam shoreline the place soon fills up on the weekends and holiday time.
The toilets in the main camping area are flush toilets while the other toilets are long drop toilets, also rubbish bins are located in the main camping area.
The area around the dam is great for bush walking, bike riding, swimming, fishing for Bass, canoeing or kayaking.
Yalwal has some stunning country and worth a visit , but it can get very busy and noisy.
