Free Camping at Newnes NSW

Newnes Campground is located in the beautiful Wollemi National Park. There is a large cleared area in a stunning valley by the Wolgan River. There are about 80 campsites, that is more suited to tents, camper trailers and campervans. The campground has no facilities just a couple of drop toilets. Fires are permitted in a contained environment, there are also many species of wild life. This site is very popular but also very isolated. You”ll need to bring your own water, firewood and take your rubbish home with you.

On the other side of the Wolgan River are the ruins of the old shale oil industry which boomed in the early 1900’s and by 1930 the area was left to decay. The national Parks has set up a walk around the ruins , its quiet a long easy walk and well worth the effort.
