Free Camping at Aberdeen NSW

img_20161009_160757Aberdeen is a small town in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, located 12km north from Muswellbrook. The New England Highway goes through the town, one side of the highway is the Chocolate Cafe and a small park on the other side of the highway, some people camp in this small park which is thought to be the free camp. The free camp is at the Aberdeen Golf and Bowling Clubs which allows free camping near the amenities block between the playing fields and suitable for caravans, camper vans and RV’s.

Make a turn into the golf and bowling clubs driveway, drive past both till you see the brown brick amenities block next to cricket pitch, this is the free camp, the ground is flat with picnic tables, rubbish bin and one of the toilet is left open (male toilets the night we stayed). There is a free shower at the club if you have a meal and a drink.

We didn’t hear much highway noise, also trains do pass by on the other side of the highway quiet regularly, but this didn’t bother us or upset our sleep.
